Michael Coyle b. c. 1805 Ireland
The photograph, above, was taken April 2012 during my trip there to research my Irish roots.
Michael Coyle, born in Ireland is, at this time, our primary ancestor in the Coyle line. He married Mary Cunningham on 31 August 1833 in County Westmeath, Ireland. The witnesses at their wedding were Bridget Cunningham [most likely the bride’s sister] and Terence Brady [in the future their son would marry a Brady].
In 1837 Michael was still in County Westmeath, according to the voters register. After that they moved across the county border to County Cavan where their four children were born: James Coyle, Patrick Coyle, Margaret Coyle and Michael Coyle.

My GG Grandfather was Edward Coyle born abt 1840 to Michael Coyle. He married Rose Callery Nov. 1865 in Drung, Cavan, Ireland. They immigrated to Scotland and my G Grandfather Michael was born there in 1868. I do not know of his siblings. There should be some born before him. Could he be a child of Michael Coyle and Mary Cunningham.
Judy, I would say it is a possibility. He could be the Michael Coyle b. 1847. Of course, Michael Coyle is not an uncommon name in Ireland. More evidence would be required to make a definite connection. I’d love to hear back if you discover anything & I will let you know if I uncover any more on the family. Thanks for contacting me.
Colleen:
I found the death certificate for Edward and cemetery record for Rose. It looks like their birth dates are wrong on marriage lic.
Edward died Nov. 13, 1890 in Leith (age 48) and Rose died Oct 25, 1896 in Leith (age 44). So Edward was born in 1842 and Rose was born in 1852.
Edward’s death certificate states his father as Michael Coyle and his mother as Margaret Coyle. Her maiden name is not quite readable. Looks like it might be McNaulty. Michael is listed as a farmer.
