James Joseph Coyle was born 16 April 1887 in Waterbury, CT. He was the son of Patrick Coyle and Margaret Brady. He married Madeline Herbst on 7 May 1912 in New York.  From 1919 – 1940 James taught wood working in a public school in Waterbury, CT. In 1930 he and his family lived in Oakville. Madeline died 22 September 1948 in Waterbury, CT. James died 13 October 1955 in Waterbury, CT.

The obituary for James Joseph Coyle:

James J. Coyle, Briarwood Rd., manual training teacher at Washington School for 31 years, died at St. Mary’s Hospital last night after a long illness. Born in Waterbury, he was the son of Patrick and Margaret (Brady) Coyle. He had been retired for the past five years. Mr. Coyle was a communicant of SS Peter and Paul Church. He is survived by five sons, Robert J., John J., both of Waterbury, Thomas J. of New Haven, James J., Jr., of Detroit, and Rev. Joseph J. Coyle, SVD of Techny, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Richard S. Wolff, Woodcliff Lake, N. J., and Miss Madeline M. Coyle, Springfield, Ill.; two brothers, Thomas and William, both of Los Angeles, California., two sisters, Miss Margaret E. Coyle and Mrs. William Cass, both of Waterbury; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday at 8:15 from Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., to SS Peter and Paul Church at 9 when a solemn high Mass will be celebrated by his son. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
